About this hunt

We hunt cougars during the winter months using hounds and fresh snowfall to pick up tracks. Our cougars average around 150 pounds and there is true potential for a 180 lb. plus cat. Due to the large amount of ungulate winter range in the territory we have very healthy populations of these elusive cats. We also have great lynx and bobcat populations. Hunts are conducted by truck and ranger while searching for tracks, and then on foot when a large track is found.

Hunting lodge

Our main southern lodge has multiple rooms and can house fourteen people complete with running water and an indoor main lodge bathroom with shower facilities. It is situated near Vowel creek within a stone’s throw of Bugaboo Provincial Park with a spectacular view of the Conrad Icefield. The northern cabin can accommodate eight people and is not far from the Spillimacheen River. It has comfortable rooms and a shower with a generator used for power. When hunting, we occasionally use other smaller cabins or wall tents for spike camps in remote hunting areas. Depending on the type of adventure/hunt you choose your lodging will vary. We do have hot showers and running water and individual rooms and electricity and we can take clients to cell service range if needed.

Epic mountain goat hunt.

9.7 of 10

The guides were all exceptional. The hunt was everything you would want in a goat hunt. The scenery will forever be etched into your memory. Tom when all out for all of his clients. Mike was such a great guide. Can’t wait to go back and hunt with them again.

Not one thing.

Unprepared and not worth the money.

2.7 of 10

British Columbia was a beautiful visit but you can spend less money for a one day drive on your own. Tom did make a great deer roast dinner and baked chicken on two of the nights. Nate's dogs were very good; unfortunately, Tom didn't have any cats to chase.

Tom did not cut tracks prior to my arrival as promised. He didn't plan my trip according to the weather as promised. We ate frozen pizzas one night and store-bought frozen lasagna two nights. The lack of being prepared for me to drop-on-a-moments notice to enable this hunt to be successful is what really ruined my trip. Nate complained that I didn't tip after the trip was over; very unprofessional. We ran dogs on 2 tracks the 7 days that I was there; unfortunately for Nate, I wasn't investing any more of my hard earned money into this trip! I do not recommend using this outfitter. He is a complete 'fly by the seat of his pants' outfitter; very unprofessional and unprepared.

Impractical Ineffective Poor quality Overpriced Unreliable

Unfortunately we got screwed by the weather on this one. I had gone up beforehand and checked snow conditions and things looked good but the forecast changed for the trip like it can sometimes. It pretty much snowed everyday and didn't stop which made it hard to find fresh tracks under the best of conditions. Regardless we did chase a big Tom on the last day, unfortunately it just didn't work out as we lost him in a huge canyon after an all day chase. The cat was taken the following week with another hunter and went in the 160 pound class. Didn't have any complaints during the trip about the food so unfortunately that part could of been an easy fix if I had known during the trip. Regrettable that we didn't get a cat this trip but it definitely wasn't due to lack of effort, everyone worked hard. In terms of preparation a lot had been done beforehand in getting equipment, fuel and supplies ready as well as checking snow conditions which respectably, I believe the hunter refuses to admit based on the fact that he unfortunately wasn't successful on this hunt.
