Northwestern Buffalo hunting in Cameroon
We found 1 hunt
Northwestern Buffalo are classified as a subspecies of the African Savanna Buffalo. Contrary to the SCI Record Book, this Buffalo is scientifically classified as a Western or West African Buffalo.
Northwestern Buffalo only occur in the northern savanna regions of Cameroon. In the southern forested regions of the country, you find the Forest or Dwarf Buffalo that differs quite distinctly in both size, colour and horn shape.
Northwestern Buffalo range in colour from reddish-brown (rouge) to dark brown-black (noir) with the latter considered to offer the better trophy size. Although smaller than Cape Buffalo these Buffalo still need to be treated with respect and some even consider them as more cunning and aggressive than Cape Buffalo.
Listed as a species of least concern by the IUCN.
