Partridge hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
The only true Partridge found in South Africa is the Chukar Partridge. This species was introduced to Robben Island just off Cape Town. These birds were released by customs officials in 1964 and are now well-established residents on the island. Hunting is not allowed on the island which is now a declared national monument.
Partridges and Pheasants is a name mistakenly used to sometimes describe upland birds like Francolin and Spurfowl. The latter species are well represented throughout the country and are available for hunting.
See Francolin and Spurfowl hunting in South Africa for more details.
