Duck hunting by foreign hunters is mainly limited to collectors and maybe a few hunters shooting for camp rations. 21 species of Ducks occur in Tanzania, namely, White-faced Whistling-Duck, White-faced Whistling-Duck, Fulvous Whistling-Duck, White-backed Duck, Knob-billed (African Comb) Duck, Garganey, Blue-billed Teal, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, Eurasian Wigeon, African Black Duck, Yellow-billed Duck, Cape Teal, Red-billed Duck, Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Southern Pochard and Tufted Duck. The Cape Shoveler and Common Pochard are rare and the Maccoa Duck is classified as endangered in Tanzania. Distribution and availability vary from area to area and the seasonal availability of suitable water habitats. The most commonly hunted are Knob-billed Duck, White-faced Duck, Yellow-billed Duck and Fulvous Whistling Ducks.
