White-Flanked Impala hunting in South Africa

White-flanked Impala is a rare colour variant, specifically bred in most cases by selectively breeding Impala carrying these rare genes. They are not true albinos, but are referred to as leucistic, meaning an animal that carries some of the species original colour and their eyes are a normal colour. In nature, where large predators occur, these animals do not often survive for very long when lacking their natural camouflage. White-flanked Impala is found randomly scattered on a few game ranches across the country. Being a specifically new breed of colour variant their numbers remain low and their trophy price is high. As their numbers increase, so will the trophy fees begin to fall. White-flanked Impala behaves and breeds with Southern Impala. Their current value is simply in their skin colouration. Numerous other colour phases and new colour phases are being promoted by outfitters and only time will tell how popular these colour phases Impalas will become. White-flanked Impala can be hunted year-round and are classified as a Southern Impala and exported under the same conditions. No special or export permits are required to hunt this species.
