The Western Bush Duiker is known in other parts of Africa as a Common Duiker, Grey Duiker or Grimm’s Duiker. There is only one species of Bush Duiker and this species was named after its geographical location in Western Africa.
This Duiker grouping incorporates three subspecies, namely, Campbell’s Duiker or Black-Faced Philantomba, Pale Grey Duiker and the Crowned Duiker. Western Duikers hunted in Cameroon will classified as Campbell’s Duikers.
The black muzzle ending on the forehead of this small savannah-dwelling antelope and having a long tuft of hair between the horns is a characteristic of the species. When fleeing danger, they bound off in a typical diving motion.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
