- We focus on quality over quantity, we offer a limited number of tags—6 in 2024 and 12 for Spring 2025—allowing us to prioritize harvesting big, mature boars.
- To ensure the best possible experience for our hunters, we use game cameras set to video mode at all bait sites. This advanced setup provides a clear view and better identification of visiting bears, helping us carefully select the right opportunities for a successful hunt.
- In 2024, we managed 18 bait sites to support 6 tags. With an additional 6 tags secured for Spring 2025, we are expanding our operations to provide even more opportunities for our hunters.

Entering our 4th season, we continue to welcome a high number of returning hunters who value our personalized approach, limited hunter numbers, and carefully managed bait sites designed specifically to target mature boars.
Whether you hunt with rifle, bow, or crossbow, our video-monitored bait sites, flexible hunt dates throughout June, and experienced guiding team give you an exceptional opportunity at a mature New Brunswick black bear.
Each hunt includes comfortable lodging, transportation to and from bait sites, and a dedicated guide for every two hunters. Optional meal plans and the opportunity for a second bear are available.
We intentionally keep our groups small to ensure every hunter receives a premium, unrushed, and highly personal experience—where you arrive as a client and leave as a friend.
Hunts run during all four weeks of June, when bear activity is at its peak and conditions are ideal.
If you are patient, selective, and looking for a true trophy-class opportunity, you may even earn a place in our Half Moon 300 Class—reserved for hunters who harvest a 300+ pound New Brunswick black bear.
Our 2026 season filled quickly with returning hunters and referrals, and availability is now very limited. We are officially opening bookings for Spring 2027. Spring Black Bear Hunt Results – Half Moon Outfitters
Another exceptional spring season in the New Brunswick wilderness showcased the quality of bears and the hunting experience our camp is known for.
Fourteen hunters joined us and every hunter saw multiple bears throughout their hunt, creating many opportunities to be selective and wait for the right animal.
Ten bears were harvested during the season, while four hunters chose to pass on several bears in hopes of encountering a true trophy-class boar.
Among the harvested bears:
Four mature trophy boars exceeded 300 pounds (345, 320, 319.5, and 319 lbs)
Three solid bears weighed over 200 pounds (270, 260, and 220 lbs)
Three hunters harvested their very first black bear
These results reflect not only the maturity of the bear population around Half Moon camp, but also the patience, selectivity, and multiple opportunities our hunters experience during their week with us.
With limited spots each June and a strong return rate from past guests, we are now welcoming bookings for Spring 2027.

Located in the heart of New Brunswick, we cover a vast territory of 900 km², much of which has never
been hunted. This unique and pristine environment allows us to offer exclusive opportunities for
harvesting mature boars, ensuring a high-quality hunting experience.
Last Spring, we hosted 14 bear hunters, all of whom had the opportunity to see multiple bears during their five-day hunts. 10 bears were successfully harvested, with 4 being trophy boars over 300 pounds, 3 over 200 pounds, and 3 first-time bear harvests.
Four hunters chose not to harvest, waiting for their target bears, highlighting our commitment to selective hunting. Among the successful hunts, one young man harvested his first bear with a bow, and another bear was taken with a crossbow.
This season’s results reflect the quality and maturity of the bears at Half Moon Camp. Many of our hunters are already returning for Spring 2026, a testament to the personalized experience and exceptional hunting we provide.

Half Moon Outfitters provides a comfortable, practical, and welcoming camp setup designed with hunters in mind, featuring three well-equipped buildings on site.
The main lodge is the hub of camp life. Meals are served here, and it offers a warm, inviting place to relax, share stories, and unwind after a day on the bait.
Hunters stay in “The Bunker,” a separate guest building that comfortably sleeps up to eight people. Bedding is provided, and full bathroom facilities with hot showers ensure a clean and comfortable stay throughout the week.
We also provide Starlink Wi-Fi, allowing guests to stay connected with family and friends while in camp.
A third building serves as the guide camp, allowing our team to operate efficiently while giving hunters their own dedicated space.
For proper game care, we have a refrigerated cold room on site for harvested bears. Evenings can be enjoyed around the outdoor fire pit—an ideal place to relax and relive the day’s highlights under the northern sky.

For hunters traveling from the United States, the nearest airport is Presque Isle International Airport in
Northern Maine, approximately a 2-hour 40-minute drive to camp. For those arriving from within
Canada, the Moncton Airport is the closest option, located about 3 hours and 10 minutes from camp.

- Deposits are non-refundable but are transferable within one year of the original hunt date if you need to postpone your trip.
- Cancellations made more than 60 days prior to the hunt may transfer all payments to a future available date within one year.
- Cancellations made within 60 days of the hunt are non-transferable unless we are able to fill your spot with another hunter.
- Half Moon Outfitters is not responsible for travel delays, weather conditions, tag issues, or personal circumstances that prevent a hunter from attending. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.
- In the rare event that Half Moon Outfitters must cancel a hunt due to unforeseen circumstances, all payments will be fully transferred to a future hunt date or refunded.

- Any bear that is hit and not recovered is considered a harvested bear.
- Our guides will make every reasonable effort to track and recover a wounded animal, using all available time, resources, and expertise to ensure a thorough search.
- Hunters are expected to follow their guide’s instructions carefully before and after the shot to maximize recovery success.
- If a bear is wounded and not recovered, the hunt for that bear is considered complete, and the opportunity for a second bear (if applicable) will require the purchase of the second bear option.

A $500 USD deposit is required to secure your hunt dates. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred within one year should you need to reschedule.
A 10% processing fee is applied to cover booking and administrative costs.
We intentionally limit the number of hunters each week to provide a highly personalized, premium experience. When you hunt with us, you’re treated as part of the Half Moon Outfitters family—not just a booking.
