Moose hunting in Alberta is classic big-bull country—boreal willows, frosty mornings, and heavy-bodied Canada moose. The province is best known for the Northwestern (often called “Canada/Anderson”) type found across northern and foothill zones. Some far-southwestern pockets have moose that are sometimes described as “Shiras-like,” but most visiting hunters come for the big northern bulls. Guided Alberta moose hunts shine in the Peace Country and northwestern farmlands (where moose filter between crop edges and timber), the northern boreal forest around river systems and cutblocks, and the eastern slopes/foothills where burns and drainages create perfect calling habitat.
