Warum Estland

Über die Jagd in Estland

Estonia, a small country on the Baltic Sea, is a land of forests, lakes, and wetlands. With over half of its territory covered in woods, it offers rich hunting opportunities for big game, birds, and waterfowl, all within easy reach from anywhere in Europe.

Karte von Estland

Estonia is located in Northern Europe, on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It borders Latvia to the south and Russia to the east, with the Gulf of Finland separating it from Finland in the north. The terrain is largely flat and forested, interspersed with rivers, lakes, bogs, and islands.

Planen Sie Ihre Reise

Tallinn Airport is serviced by airlines from most major European cities. It is part of the Eurozone, so citizens of the EU, USA, New Zealand, Canada, and Australia do not need a visa. As in most European countries, upon arrival hunters must declare their guns and show a temporary import permit, which the outfitter can arrange. This will include the hunter’s name, passport number, and details of the gun(s), including caliber and serial number. The hunter will also be required to show a valid hunting license from his or her home country, a gun permit or U.S. Customs 4457 form.

Preisverteilung

Hunting in Estonia is reasonably priced compared to Western Europe. Moose and red deer hunts are the most expensive, with trophy fees often depending on antler size. Wild boar, roe deer, and fallow deer are more affordable. Bird and small-game hunting is usually offered at daily rates, often with generous bag limits.

Jagdart

Driven hunts in late autumn and winter are perhaps the most common way to pursue moose and wild boar, although individual hunts with dogs, from high seats, or ‘on the roar’ during the rut are also popular. For the roebuck, stalking and calling are the norm. Waterfowl hunting often involves blinds near wetlands and coastal areas, while woodcock during the migration is shot over pointing or flushing dogs. Dogs are quite often used on hunting in Estonia; hounds are used for hares and foxes, and ‘laika’ spitz-type dogs for beaver and raccoon dogs. Beavers are also hunted with small caliber rifles, by waiting for them at dusk near rivers and lakes where they feed, and raccoon dogs are often trapped.
