Grivet Monkeys, also known as the African Green Monkey, look very similar to the Vervet Monkey with long white tufts of hair along the side of its face. Vervet Monkeys distribution range is from South and East Africa up to southern Ethiopia. Whereas the Grivet Monkey’s distribution range is limited to Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Sudan. They may only be hunted in Ethiopia.
Grivet Monkeys can be hunted during one of the plains game speciality hunts offered in Ethiopia. These hunts carry a daily rate price tag of approximately $2575 a day and the trophy fee for a Grivet Monkey is $80.
When to hunt Grivet Monkey?
Although Ethiopia has no regulated hunting season, the best time to hunt Grivet Monkeys is from October to June.
Grivet Monkeys have very similar habits to their close cousins, Vervet Monkeys. Their preferred habitat is savanna woodland and they are always found near water, feeding on leaves, fruit and flowers. They are mostly hunted during a spot and stalk hunt as a trophy of opportunity.
