Duiker hunting in Zimbabwe

Three species of Duiker can be hunted in Zimbabwe. However, the most commonly hunted Duiker is the Bush Duiker as the Blue and Red Duiker distribution is very limited and mostly out of the prime hunting concession areas. The Bush Duikers are more commonly known as the Common or Grey Duiker and some refer to it as Grimm's Duiker. Five subspecies occur in the country and they vary in colour from grey to light brown. The Nyasa Bush Duiker is found in Western Zimbabwe and has the greatest distribution across the country. In the north, you find the Abyssinian Bush Duiker, in the west Steinhardt's Bush Duiker and in the south, the Southern and South African Bush Duikers. So think again when just hunting a so-called Common Duiker. No special permits are required to hunt Common Bush and Red Duiker. However, Blue Duikers are classified as a CITES II species by the IUCN.
