Klippspringer in Südafrika jagen

Klipspringer, which is Afrikaans for “Rock Jumper” is known as the ballerina of the mountains as they nimbly hop across the rocks and mountain faces on their rubbery goat like hooves. They belong to the “Tiny 10” family and are a small compact animal with a unique coat of dense hollow fibre quill like hair. They exclusively inhabit rocky mountain terrain but may wander some distance from these mountainous sanctuaries in search of food. Only the males have horns and searching for a suitable trophy can be a challenging mountain hunt. They are found in many of the country’s numerous mountain ranges from the Western Cape in the south, through the Eastern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces to the north. They occur in prolific numbers in the Waterberg and Soutpansberg Mountains of the Limpopo province. A curious animal by nature that will stand motionless watching your every move before effortlessly bounding off over the rocky terrain. The secret to hunting them is to find a shady spot and spend some time glassing over the rocks. If they are not sky lined, they blend in very well with their surroundings. Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
