Hartebeest hunting in Zambia

Hartebeest (Common Hartebeest) have been divided into seven subspecies and some hybrids. Only Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest is found in Zambia and occurs countrywide except in the Zambezi Valley and west of the Zambezi in Barotseland. Hartebeest all have a similar shape, standing high on the shoulders with a sloping back. Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest is golden brown in colour with a light patch on their rump. Both the males and females have crescent-shaped horns with backwards-pointing tips. Hartebeest is listed as a species of least concern by the IUCN.
