Eastern Cape Kudu hunting in South Africa

Eastern Cape Kudu is not to be confused with the East African Greater Kudu. Both animals belong to the Greater Kudu Safari Club International listing group. This Kudu is slightly smaller in both body and horn length, as well as darker in colour than the more common Kudu. Eastern Cape Kudu can only be classified as such if hunted in the Eastern or Western Cape regions of South Africa. Unfortunately, in some areas, Greater Kudus have been introduced to improve the trophy quality and have contaminated the species by watering down the Eastern Cape Kudu gene pool. Kudu is Africa’s equivalent of an Elk and is the most sought after trophy on the continent. Whether it be for their magnificent spiral horns or their sought after quality meat, trophy hunters and meat hunters alike will find it hard to resist the opportunity to shoot one of these beautiful animals. Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
