Roe buck hunt in Slovenia

The Special purpose state hunting area is located in the central - east of Slovenia, covering 27,500 hectares, with an altitude difference of almost 900 m between the highest and lowest point. The highest peak is 1543 meters. The most important game species are chamois, red deer, roe deer and wild boar. The diversity of mountains and the harsh climate required of the people an extraordinary sensitivity toward nature, harmony between man and nature, which is still reflected in the well-kept pastures, forests and the mighty farms. Also, caring for nature is one of the reasons why living conditions there are still favorable for the existence and development of many game species. With its geological substratum, position between the Alpine and sub-alpine region, characteristic cultural landscape and high forest cover represents an important habitat for numerous wildlife species, both game and protected species.
