Seeing lots of deer

Everything was great saw lots of deer does and bucks, the accommodations were really nice, and was fed really well. Terry and Stephanie were very professional the entire time of the stay.

I hated the fact that i had to return home to go back to work.

I took my 13 year old son for our first Turkey hunt. Terry and Stephanie made us feel at home as soon as we pulled into the driveway. Terry was very patient and took the time to educate us so we would be more successful when we traveled home and hunted by ourselves. Being able to watch my son bag his first long beard is something I will never forget!

I have nothing negative to say. I am already checking the calendar for my next trip.

Terry was awesome. We had a great hunting trip and gained a lot of knowledge about hunting in general at the same time. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable and every meal was great. We used several different stands over the course of our trip and they were all very well kept - foliage cut back to give you clear visuals, sturdily mounted and offered ideal shot angles of the feeders.

+Everything was exactly as described +Terry get's it- he is a hunter and he totally understands deer and there habits as well as people and there habits! +This hunt was about my two boys getting a great experience. The deer did not cooperate, but Terry sure did, he worked hard to put us in the best spots. Great guy and am glad to have met and hunted with him. Stephanie was always quick to respond to questions and help me with the complicated Georgia license process. She was a great help all around.

Really the only bad thing was the deer were nocturnal. 3 hunters 3 trail cams and the guide only saw 4 deer during daylight during the 2 day hunt. Had pics of all kinds of deer and 130+ shooters every night, just could get them to cooperate. There is nothing we can do about that.

Effort, energy and focus on details were the foundation of this successful hunt. Terry and Stephanie worked very hard to provide an enjoyable experience and and to maximize the probability of my opportunity to succeed in the harvest of a quality whitetail.

Both Terry and Stephanie were outstanding. Although the hunting was extremely poor, primarily due to bad weather, they always had a positive outlook and ensured that all of the hunters in camp felt comfortable.

We saw zero bucks during our entire hunt and only a few young does. I attribute this primarily to the poor weather.

The weather was absolutely miserable. 10 inches of rain in 2days and flooding. Just about every stand was under water. Tornado warnings and watches were issued during this hunt. Due to the weather conditions that were out of our control the deer just wouldn’t move. We must say in our 12yrs of outfitting we have never had any hunts quite like this hunt and we certainly hope we never do again.

Terry went above and beyond

From the moment I arrived, it felt like home. Terry and I hit it off immediately. From the lodge to the great food to the whole experience, I have only good things to say. Terry went out of his way to take make sure I had every opportunity to harvest a buck. In spite of the warm and wet weather, I saw plenty of deer, just not what I was looking for. I will be back.

I had a great hunting experience with Rack Nine this weekend. Terry is an awesome host and works non- stop to ensure you are taken care of. The hogs were not moving, so Terry went the extra mile to put me in position to kill my first hog. I will recommend Rack Nine to friends & will go back myself.

Night hog hunt

Best hog hunt experience I’ve had. The night part of the hunting is extraordinary. If you want to experience wild nature this is the hunt. At any moment it’s possible for the entire woods to erupt with the sounds of howling coyotes and snorting, squealing, or fighting hogs. The more time a hunter is willing to put in the stand the more likely you’ll have an extreme experience. I’d highly recommend it.

No amount of everything else can replace seeing and getting a shot at game. The doves just did not want to cooperate and were few and far between. This is Mother Nature at her best and not the fault of the outfitter. In spite of no game bagged I very much enjoyed my gettaway.

How hunting should be

Racknine Outfitters isnt a hunt broker. They're a family-owned business and they bring you into their family to hunt with them. They're kind, patient, smart, and simple. Do they know deer? Gosh, I think they know every deer by their first name on their properties. The food is just like my mother used to make. The guides are all experts but talk to you like your buddy. There's no ego. They care more about your success than you do. I got my deer, but even if I didn't, you'd see me write the same review. To be fair, I think if the client is a jerk he or she might have a different experience but thats true anywhere. If you want a good guide, be a good client.

Good Alabama Hog Hunt

The hunt was well planned out, blinds, feeders, and locations. Terry and Ryan went the extra mile to help us achieve success to the point whereby we knew we were more than just another number or paycheck. The accomodations were perfect for our group, very clean and inviting. To say the food was great would be an understatement, it was fabulous. The most important feature is the fact that they, Terry, Stephane, and Ryan were honest in that they did everything they said they would do. We highly recomend Rack9 and are even now planning a return trip next spring.

Hunting was poor. On the other pairs hunts I’ve been on the hogs were heavily baited. There wasn’t much bait so the hogs had no incentive to come in and stay.

Micah, Your hunt was very unsuccessful but it wasn’t due to lack of bait. We put out 3 tons of corn every 3 days. Every stand location had a 55gal drum feeder and they were full. They are set on timers and go off 3 times a day and after y’all left there was a pile of corn on the ground. Upon arriving a storm/cold front were coming through. There was flooding, temperatures dropped 40 degrees and there was a 20mph wind. We also stressed repeatedly how you need to be scent free (hogs can smell up to 5 miles and 25ft under ground) but yet you all were showering with herbal essence shampoo. We discounted your hunts from $875 to $775 because y’all would be transporting yourselves to the woods. It was more important that y’all loaded your coolers before heading out than being scent free. We also have photos of hogs there prior to your arrival and they moved to other locations on the same farm during your hunt and came back to all locations after you left. Wonder why? We do apologize that your hunt was unsuccessful but ask yourself what roll did you have in the unsuccessful part instead of blaming the outfitter for it.

KY Spring Turkey Hunt 17-19 APR 21

Welcoming staff, very good lodge and food, great co-hunters in our group from Alabama, as my buddy and I are from AR and TN respectively. Spotless hunting lodge and three separate bedrooms which allowed all of us to bunk with our respective hunting partner. Separate large tracks of land so there was no overcrowding for the total group of six. My buddy and I have been turkey hunting for over 35 years so we did not request a guide. The military discount was also very much appreciated. Guides drove us to the properties so we knew where to go to hunt in the mornings and afternoons.

This was opening weekend in KY, so birds had not experienced any pressures so expectations were good for our hunt. We were blessed with near perfect weather also. My buddy and I heard only 4 total birds of which none were on the properties assigned. All of those birds were shot and assumed killed as no more gobbling after that. We finally got on a single bird at 1:00 PM on our last day, worked him to within 100 yards then the hens pulled him away; that’s part of turkey hunting. We’re told there were plenty of birds at time of booking. Were also shown pictures of turkeys, after we arrived at camp, but all were this fall and winter. No game camera pics within the last 1-4 weeks which would be appreciated as a paying turkey hunter. Game cameras are used extensively for deer hunting, why not during the turkey preseason? We stayed with it, hunting from daylight till 12:00 to 1:00 pm then back out at 2:00 pm or so. We covered ground and saw minimal sign each day. Just because turkeys are there in the fall/winter doesn’t mean they are there in the spring. For a hunting group of six, only one bird killed, which for the ten year old young man, we were all very happy for him! This appears to be a great place to deer hunt, as there are plenty of tracks, rubs, and old sign. Tree stands are new and in good spots. The hunt staff here are hospitable, good country cooking with plenty of food, and in beautiful country with a nice lodge. However, it won’t be a place that I would return to and turkey hunt. Sadly, The turkey hunting did not meet expectations.

Thanks Brian for your feedback!! Turkey’s have a “annual home range” of 370-1360 acres so yes the turkey pictures we have from the fall are still in their “home range” in the spring. Actually not many outfitters run cameras for turkey alone, but it’s not a bad idea. To be fair in your review I think you left out some important details. The first is that on your 3day hunt you farm jumped 4 different farms in 2 1/2 days. You never gave any of the farms a fair chance. Assuming that a bird was shot and presumed dead is well just like the old saying goes “assuming only makes a..........” that same farm a trail camera was put up after y’all left and just where I showed you the pictures of the turkey from last fall/winter sent us pictures of turkey again. You also forgot to mention that the youth hunters father also shot and missed one. Now they were on a guided hunt and you gave us a 4.2 on professional hunters/staff. Seems that the guided hunt was more successful. You also didn’t mention that on the last day that y’all followed another Hunter to the farm he was hunting without consulting with us first. That’s just tacky and we don’t appreciate that. Moral of the story Turkey hunting requires patience and just because you book a hunt with a outfitter doesn’t guarantee a harvest. Next time please be honest when leaving a review.

Hog hunt

Good hospitality and very nice people. Ryan was our guide and was top-notch. Between three of us, six hogs were recovered. We each hunted separate blinds and saw a total of 22 hogs in the 2 days we were hunting. Nothing negative to say whatsoever. We had a great time learning about hunting hogs.

I did see a true shooter on next to last day of hunt , just didn’t get close enough for a shot with my bow! That’s the tough part of hunting big bucks they are not easy!

Before booking my trip I read all the great reviews, and the bar was set pretty high - Terry and Stephanie exceeded ALL expectations. They made us feel at home, provided some amazing home cooked meals (including the best smoked ribs I’ve ever had). Our guide, Ryan, was friendly and knowledgeable and was extremely accommodating. The land was managed professionally and all the shooting houses, blinds and ladder stands were top notch. You can tell they take pride in their work and know what they are doing. We saw plenty of deer and ended up bringing 2 does and a buck home. Job well done. I will definitely be back.

Justin, I’m sorry your hunt was unsuccessful and not up to your standards. This hunt was not advertised as a bow hunt only. We offer both bow and rifle hunts the only difference is the bow hunt is cheaper than the rifle hunt and you also received a additional discount for being a police officer. You chose the archery when you booked. You also saw 2 shooter bucks. You failed to mention that there was 2 other bow hunters in camp as well. The property you hunted had 2 gun hunters neither shot so gun hunters never effected your hunt. 1 of the bow hunters was a repeat hunter and will be coming to Kentucky this year as well. The other one gave us a 10 and put a deposit down for 3 hunters next year in Alabama. To show that your success is important to us we even brought you one of our guns to use. We appreciate your feedback and have come to terms over the years that you just can’t please everyone.

Terry and Stephanie were phenomenal people it was great to meet them … I seen animals every time I went out … I shot at a nice buck…. . I hit him a little too high we looked for the deer for almost 500 yards could never find the buck …. But Terry assured me the buck would survive!!! I am little down about it but we did everything …. and l already booked for next year this is a great hunt !!! You do not want to pass up on meeting great people , great food ,and a great experience class act !!! See you next year !!!

The hosts were great. Truly great. Fast for three days before you go because they will feed you till stuffed. Food was amazing the quarters were modest, but comfortable. The hosts was genuinely doing his best to get you a boar. The guides were knowledge and gave out tips. You are in a big hunting box like a Muddy outdoors Gunner box but for two people. Two beautiful dogs to play fetch with.

The weather made the boars go deep into the forests, but you can't do anything about the weather. Recommend you bring a buddy.

Terry and Stephanie were absolutely amazing. They truly care about your hunt and your experience. The hunting was rough do to the weather but terry tried his absolute hardest to put us on big deer. You can truly his passion is putting people on big deer. Stephanie made bomb food every night for dinner so everyday ended on a good note. In the end my hunt was very successful. I shot a 160” 11 point in perfect velvet!! Still managed to get it done even though we had thunderstorms all week.

The stand locations were great with plenty of viewing angles and lots of wildlife activity. Was able to see it all had the chance on a pig the first night at the feeder but didn’t connect had 5 the second night but didn’t come into a comfortable range. Good hunting!

Accommodations for this hunt were excellent - clean comfortable house and delicious home cooked meals. I've hunted with several outfitters over the years - some good and some bad. Terry is one of the good ones. He works very hard to give his hunters the best opportunity at a good buck.
