Safari in Limpopo/SA

I don’t know where to start.....the lodge, the variety of animals, the different opportunities of hunting, the food, the organisation. Hannes, in my opinion, represents the best hunting for “first timers” as well as for experienced safari hunters. If you dream about having THE perfect hunting trip to South Africa, Hannes is the man to make it work.

Hannes is a great communicator who works hard to ensure the trip is tailored to you. Before booking the trip he provided a full detail of the trip so we knew what to expect. From the moment we stepped off the plane, everything was taken care of and the accommodations were very well maintained. (They surpass anything found in the states). Even though everything was planned, he is not opposed to change and will do anything necessary to make the hunt and overall experience in the country as you want it. I plan to return for additional animals and would recommend this hunt to anyone thinking of traveling to S Africa.

Awesome 1st Time Experience

I've only started hunting in the last year, but when the wife and I started looking at taking a trip to South Africa I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Hannes was extremely helpful and very easy to contact whenever we had any questions. We were a bit limited on time, so I booked a three night hunt. We were looking to get a wildebeest, impala, blesbok, and sprinkbok--and managed to bag all but the blesbok. The hunting was superb. I had expected to hunt primarily from a vehicle, but we did everything on foot and covered about 11 miles a day between morning and evening treks. Hannes will readily admit the game isn't "free-range" since his property is high-fenced like most others in South Africa, but when you've have the ability to cover thousands of hectares on foot...it's about as fair-chase as you can get. After reviewing our plans, Hannes suggested we make time to go to Pilannesberg National Park for a few days of safari. He provided transportation for us, booked us a stay at Sun City, and arranged for several game drives for us. If you have the time...make room to add this on. Can't wait to go back.

Three nights with two days of real hunting is a bit tight for three animals, but that's all my schedule could accommodate. When I go back, I'd definitely try for four or five solid days.

A wonderful place for hunting and animal viewing

Highly recommended! Hannes, his whole family and his staff were warm, very welcoming and gave us a unique, spectacular stay. We had the whole camp to ourselves and for our meals and braais, the family cooked for us personally and joined us. The two hides are great for viewing and photography, the blind was in just the right spot. Hannes is a very knowledgeable professional hunter, that stalks and hunts 1:1 with his guests. Stay and hunt were tailored to our needs.We learned a lot in hunting, on game drives within the Ukuta Lodge and about South Africa from him. An allround great experience! We will be sure to come back!

A luxury safari at a fantastic place

At Mahathi Pursuit we found a true gem in the difficult-to-navigate world of African safaris. Mahathi is a most professional and luxurious hunting farm, which exceeded all our expectations from start to finish. Hannes and his team took very good care of us during the whole stay, starting at the airport all the way until the end! You can expect very clean and nice villas, with all modern amenities including water toilets, showers and very comfortable beds. Additionally, the camp offers a small swimming pool, a nice fireplace, a small house with sofas and a lovely dinner table out in the free. All set in the middle of the savannah in a peaceful place surrounded by large trees. All hunting was done with professional PH:s, who guided us through the vast areas of Mahathi game farm. There are plenty of animals, but hunting was still challenging with many nice occasions to stalk the animal of choice. Important to us was that all animals were treated with repect and put into good use after the shot. Also, the skinning and preparation of trophies was done professionally and according to our wishes! An additional interesting challenge was long range shooting, very thrilling indeed, giving us a possibility to explore our shooting limits in a safe and controlled envoronment! All in all we are very pleased to recommend Mahathi Pursuit for your next hunting trip to Africa!

Hannes has a small but fantastic team. His tracker is amazing and you may walk a lot but you won't lose weight. They work hard to put you on game, but it's still hunting.

Engaging and Rememberable Experience!

Great experience and set-up. I hunted solo while on vacation in South Africa and was pleased while hunting with Mahathi Pursuits. The property was appropriately large with multiple game species, including some dope looking black Impala and impressive Wildebeast. Lodging was nice and would be well suited for all group sizes - they even have a pool. My professional hunter, Ron (as I called him - I have a hard time pronouncing Afrikaans names), was awesome and the rest of team was impressive as well. Good value for the experience and I recommend it.

Best hunting experience.

This outfitter is completely focused on you and your needs the entire time. From the quality of the accommodations, to the food, to the animals, to the professional hunters, everything was done with excellence. They make everything about you and how to make you have the best experience ever!

We loved everything, so I guess the only thing I could say we didn’t like was we didn’t book a long enough stay! We could have stayed another week easily as nice as everything was.

Pure happiness

I had an extraordinary hunting trip. I wanted a family place and to have a territory where I felt alone. I was extraordinarily well received, Hannes listened to my desires. We feel that he has an ability to adapt. You want to get as close to the animals as possible. You want to take animals from very far away with long distance shots you can also. The qualities of the animals were excellent, the lodge and the food were fabulous. And above all, frankly, it’s a peaceful and family atmosphere. This is exactly what I was looking for. Next trip in 2024

Hannes and his family are wonderful people that made my wife and I feel welcome the second we arrived at their Lodge. Accommodations are top notch when it comes to comfort, cleanliness, and having everything one would need. The hunting was more than I could have expected. A truly incredible experience that is a testament to the hard work, skill, and knowledge of Hannes and his team of professionals. When not hunting we would sit in one of the Game Hides and watch all kinds of wild game from only a few feet away drinking from the watering hole. In the evenings everyone would gather around a large outdoor table to enjoy the company and excellent table fare. Remarkable experience, and plan to go back.
