Established in 2024 our company offers guided hunting and trapping trips in northern Penobscot and Aroostook counties, Maine.
Head guide Christopher Davila has over 20 years experience hunting / trapping bears, predators and furbearers across the country and personally sees to all the preseason hunt preparations, from setting up and running camp to sourcing and hand mixing the bait for the year. Bait sites and stands are placed as early as legally allowed and situated in ways to encourage daylight activity from mature bears. We limit the number of client spots per week and keep all sites baited and regularly tended regardless of booked numbers to ensure multiple active baits per client.

Congratulations! You’ve managed to draw a Maine Moose tag. Let us at SEOEGS make sure that your long awaited chance at harvesting the largest species of deer in the lower 48 has the highest chance of success possible. We here at SEOEGS spend hundreds of hours throughout the year in the northern management units of Maine wearing down boot leather scouting out our hunting areas in order to get an understanding of game dispersal and movement for any given year. As the season gets closer we spend even more time in targeted areas making sure by the time you arrive in camp we have a plan of action as well as contingency plans so we aren’t caught flat footted by sudden environmental changes or human activity in any given area. When you employ our services we will concentrate our scouting in the zone you have drawn. Pouring over ariel maps, notes from previous seasons, driving the area’s roads and checking access points for any changes and putting boots on the ground scouting out the area from the ground off the beaten path. We will also scout out navigable waterways in your drawn zone so we can leave the roads completely behind and reach unpressured territory if needed. Hunts will take place from a spike camp located in your permitted hunting zone to minimize wasted daylight During your hunt mornings will be spent glassing and calling clear cuts and open timber areas along area logging roads. Afternoons will be spent still hunting and calling ridgelines and transitional areas between bedding cover and feeding areas or patrolling and calling along waterways depending on zone hunt area. After a successful harvest we will dress and recover your bull and transport your kill to the check station and local meat processor of your choice if desired. (In the likely event your bull is taken too far from a road for vehicle recovery we will quarter and pack it out) Make sure to pick up a bear tag before your hunt as stumble upon Black bear can be taken for no extra fee

The North Maine Woods is a vast area of over 3.5 million acres covering western Aroostook County, along with parts of northern Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Somerset Counties. Primarily comprised of commercial forest land. This is a remote area with almost nonexistent cell service.

Spike camp

The Maine North woods is a 3.5-million-acre multi-owner, multiple use management area that encompasses almost the entirety of the northwestern area of Maine. Access to the interior is subject to a daily land use fee which the hunter will be responsible for the duration of their hunt unless otherwise specified.

TAGs & licenses

Big Game

Maine’s big game species are White-tailed deer, Moose, Black bear, and Wild turkey. Maine issues a general Big Game Hunting License to residents and non-residents which covers most game (Moose and Turkey require additional permits).

Deer: With a big game license, a hunter may take one antlered deer annually. Taking an antlerless deer is only allowed if the hunter obtains an Antlerless Deer Permit through Maine’s lottery which is held in summer and is open to both residents and non-residents.

Moose permits are run by lottery. Hunters (residents and non-residents) must apply each year by May for a chance to win a Moose permit allowing the harvest of one moose of a specified sex in a specific wildlife management district during the assigned week in fall. Non-residents are capped (no more than ~10% of permits).

Black bear requires no lottery, but hunters must purchase a Bear Permit in addition to their big game license if hunting Bear prior to the general firearms deer season. During the firearms deer season a big game license alone lets a hunter take a Bear with no additional permit.

Wild Turkey hunting in Maine requires a Turkey Permit in addition to a base license The permit covers both spring and fall seasons. There is no lottery for turkeys – permits are unlimited.

Small Game

Maine’s small game includes partridge, snowshoe hare, woodcock, pheasant (stocked in limited areas), migratory birds as well as furbearers like coyote, fox, raccoon. A standard Small Game Hunting License allows hunting all of these species.

Woodcock hunting requires an additional free HIP registration plus a Maine Migratory Bird Permit.

Waterfowl hunting requires a Maine State Migratory Waterfowl Permit and the Federal Duck Stamp.

Documents Required

A valid Moose Permit, Bear Permit (if hunting before firearm deer season), Turkey permit in accordance with the hunted species
Maine Migratory Waterfowl Permit, Federal Duck Stamp and HIP confirmation for waterfowl
Hunter Safety Course Certificate
Archery hunters need a separate Bowhunter Education if getting an Archery license.

Minimum Hunter Age

The minimum age to get a junior hunting license in Maine is 10 years old. Children under 10 may accompany adults but may not hunt or tag game. Juniors (ages 10–15) can hunt with a junior license, which requires them to be under direct adult supervision of a licensed adult at all times. At age 16, a hunter needs to purchase an adult license and must have completed hunter education. Maine’s apprentice program allows those 16 or older who have not done hunter ed to buy an Apprentice License (available to both residents and non-residents).
