Velik was prompt in getting me back and forth from the airport, driving me to rustically luxurious accommodation, and getting me out into the rugged yet serene Rhodope mountains, leading to a Gold Medal class Tusker trophy being bagged on my first day hunting, and my first day in Bulgaria. The introduction to mountainous Bulgarian cuisine was a feast for the senses, and Velik was very helpful in providing interpretation. Verdict: come one come all

Great guide

Everything about this hunt was great. It is pretty rare to dream about taking a trip for a long time and actually have it surpass your expectations, but this hunt definitely did that. The hiking was physically challenging but not impossible, it truly felt like we had earned the animal at the end of the hunt. On the second day of hunting we spotted a group with multiple large males about 1.5 miles from base camp. We started hiking in the morning and both my dad and I were successful in taking mature males from that group. Overall it was an incredible experience and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an adventure. PS. The hunting rangers were awesome. I couldn’t have asked for a better group to guide us on this hunt.

My son Tim and I had an outstanding mountain lion hunt with Ira as our outfitter/guide. I’ve followed hounds for decades, and the work shown by Ira’s dogs was some of the best I’ve ever witnessed. The country ranged from flat desert to rugged, rough terrain, making for a challenging and authentic hunt. Beyond the hunt itself, we were treated to excellent home-cooked meals prepared by Ira’s wife, Kyra, and enjoyed meeting their young boys. This was one of the easiest reviews I’ve ever written—it was a first-class experience all around, we’ll be going back again next year.

So much of a hunt comes down to the outfitter and guide. Both were excellent, just great people who treated me very well. The hunting area was breathtaking and had abundant animals. Lodging and food were top notch too.
