One of the more beautiful deer species around, Fallow deer are the only deer species with 4x natural colour variations with any two parents capable of producing any of the 4x colour offspring. During the rut they can be extremely aggressive towards other deer often fighting to exhaustion and death or chasing much bigger species of deer out of their area. They are alert, agile and absolute speed freaks, add to this the fact they are the only other deer species besides moose with palmated antlers and you have one very unique and most impressive trophy. Being grazers and living almost entirely off pasture/grass, Fallow deer are right at home in open hill country and farm land. With a more temperate climate than southern NZ our Auckland block grows grass like there's no tomorrow meaning our resident fallow herds are much the same, "Big numbers and Big Bucks".
