This is all made possible due to our location in Lake Hawea, only a short drive from the popular Lake Wanaka Resort and Queenstown, the bustling adventure capital of NZ.
- Barry Dodds (Doddsy) has been hunting all of his life; he’s been a professional guide around the region for years and has also hunted throughout Australia and South Africa - so he knows a thing or two about stalking trophy animals.
- Tony Dodds (Son, also known as Doddsy) has grown up hunting with his dad since he could walk. Tony loves to be out in the mountains camping out and stalking some of New Zealand's best animals on offer.
- To experience New Zealand hunting at its best, get in contact with Doddsy. He can take you on the trip of a life time, stalking the internationally famous red stag, or his favourite hunting prey – the Tahr. Both are in abundance right on the doorstep of his Hawea homestead.

This is a wilderness hunt which can be done 2 ways:
1) We have access to a hunting cabin where we will base ourselves and walk up from there
2) We helicopter in, get dropped off and camp for 2-3 nights in a tent, then get picked up (This will be an extra cost to pay for the helicopter, around $1200-1800 USD)
These are the hardest animals to hunt in New Zealand, with great hearing, sight and smell, they are very cunning. They can be hunted all year round with the mating season being from late May to end of June. Their coats do change from being a dark brown during winter, to then a light tanned coat during summer. We personally like the summer trips as it's great to get out in the summer!
