Nyala hunting in Zimbabwe
We found 1 hunt
Nyala was originally named an Angus Bushbuck and in African folk law, this was one of the most beautiful animals God ever created. The white dots on its face represents the points of contact where God’s fingertips held this creature's head in his hand while appreciating his creation. This medium size spiral-horned antelope is closely related to the smaller Bushbuck and larger sized Kudu.
Nyala only occurs in the Limpopo River basin in southern Zimbabwe. Their numbers remain at low densities along the Limpopo River and are more readily hunted in the well managed and conserved large private reserves found in the Zimbabwe Lowveld / Nwenezi region.
Good trophy males are shy water dependant animals that prefer well-wooded areas, thick bush and riverine areas. They are normally hunted spot-and-stalk in the early morning and late afternoon.
Nyala is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
