Where to hunt Bat-Eared Fox
The bat-eared fox’s habitat preferences range from open savanna grassland to arid shrublands. They occur in two separate locations, the first being from Southern Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Western and Central South Africa to Western Zimbabwe. The other location is in Ethiopia, Somalia, Eastern Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. It is huntable in all of the aforementioned countries except Angola, Kenya and Somalia.

Although common in parts of Namibia and Botswana the only listings on BookYourHunt are South African hunts. In South Africa the daily rates range from $350-$450 per day with a trophy fee range of $300-1,500. You will also incur an additional cost for a special permit and in some instances outfitters charge an additional rate for hunting at night. Specialised nocturnal hunts are also available on the site.
When to hunt Bat-Eared Fox?
Bat-eared Fox may be hunted year round In South Africa and Zimbabwe. The Namibian hunting season is from February 1 to November 30. The best months to hunt these foxes are the cooler winter and early spring months when the grass is short and visibility is good. Being mostly nocturnal animals in the summer months and diurnal during the winter months, the best time to hunt these animals is early morning or at dusk.
Why hunt Bat-Eared Fox?
Normally seen during a spot and stalk hunt or while traveling to/from your selected hunting area at dusk or dawn while actively feeding. You will be able to anticipate in which direction they are feeding and find yourself some high ground from where you will be able to ambush them. With the wind in your favour and a little patience you could get lucky. They have extremely good hearing so you need to approach very quietly. They may also be hunted at night with a spotlight.
