Good Place to Hunt

The cabin was nice to stay in, He had a lot of Choice of place to hunt on the land
The Weather was not good, Had two days of rain that was not good to hunt in, out of 5 days, We only stay for 4 days because of the weather. He should have one or two more in closed deer stand would help. We seen about 5 does and only 3 small buck but that not the outfitter problem. over all it was a good time for us three that went down to hunt.

This seemed like an honest review. I don't like it when people do not shoot bucks just as much as the hunters. I have enough repeat business, but I hate to lose new people that might not rebook. We shall see with these folks.

In 3 days I saw no deer or had any deer come to the 4 trail cameras and bait that I had out. The accommodations are a 15x20 shed with a portable propane tank heater, a toilet chair with a broken post hole cutter for a bathroom and a Coleman camp stove. Livable, but not what I expected.

Read Frank's review from a month earlier. The difference in reviews, when it is a "do-it-yourself" vs. guided.... is are you successful or not. Tip: If you tromp around a property to set up 4 cameras like this guy did, and probably checked them every day, you are not going to see deer.

Excellent hunting experience

This was the best hunting experiences I've had and I went all by myself on top of it. Owner: James, was completely polite and useful and helped me out with butchers and taxidermists. And it came in useful after my shooting a 192 ¹⁰/¹⁶" antler buck! I've been hunting for a dozen years and this by sure was my number 1 life experience. Not just the deer and other animal sightings alone, but just the home feeling vibes and the excitement while my driving there, and this is coming from me a guy all the way from New York.
I'm not a big fan of the old school cabin in the hunt property, but I'm new fashioned. Besides there's a hotel about 30 minutes nearby.

We enjoyed the primitive cabin and being out in the woods away from cell service.. Great time with my son and nephew.
Be sure to read all the reviews. The property he had us hunting was not the property in the pictures, food plots and the deer herd certainly did not match up. No corn in the feeders, just dumped out a bag a day or two before we arrived to hunt. I guess my words stand true, you get what you pay for...

I am sorry he did not shoot a trophy buck. I did pick up 3- 24 packs of Bud Light cans out of the cabin. These people had ZERO chance of seeing deer. I'd say 95% of the people who take the time to do reviews/give feedback are not successful. They are not jerks. Drinking is certainly fine. They were just not successful. I do hate it when people are not successful.

No sign of mature deer

Saw over 30 doe and a couple small bucks in 4 days of hunting. The tower blinds seem new and all the ladder stands are sturdy and in great locations.
Lack of mature bucks and the cabin was infested with mice. The does know exactly where all the stands are and as soon as they enter the field they don’t stop looking at the stands.

This hunter had a good time. I am sorry he did not shoot a trophy buck. I DISAGREE with the "star ranking/reviews system." I offer a primitive cabin with no running water, but I still get 0s for the cabin quality. I also get 0s for bad guide service, but I do not guide at these prices???

Was a lot of different game and the hunting territory was very different from what I was accustomed to which was why I chose this place.

He was also very accommodating and flexible
Part my fault. The owner operates two properties. If I’m not mistaken, almost all photos are of one property. So I expected it being close to the same. I should have asked. . Overall I was there to hunt, had a good time and experience. Didn’t kill anything but that’s what makes hunting rewarding when you do.

I like unguided hunts where me and my wife can enjoy quality property and be to ourselves. The place is managed to provide excellent habitat to wildlife. This hunt is for realistic hunters that can do for themselves and appreciate a well managed property being made available to them , if you want to be waited on and pampered find an outfitter that provides that
There was nothing we didn’t like. The outfitter was upfront and to the point and the setup was what he said it was

Wildlife Everywhere. Will be rebooking.

Operation is secluded. Lots of hunting locations to choose from.
Plan on taking time getting to your stand or deer will bust you.

Talk to the guy. Lots of wildlife. Could have shot 20 deer and turkey, but shot one coyote.

Property is secluded in the middle of nowhere. Year-round food sources clearly makes the difference here.
Bunkbed sucks - cheap mattresses.

too many dose per acre to hold quality bucks. Deer not on food plots in October.

It stinks when a hunter doesn't shoot a trophy. I've owned this property for 10 years with the sole goal to to grow bigger bucks, with the farm next door being owned by my Grandparents and Mom for about 60 years. I spare no expense and probably make around 50 cents an hour...25 cents per hour maybe?.... This is what I do to clear my mind and get some relief from my full-time teaching job at a public school. I like planting food plots, feeding the deer, and making my 60+- apple, persimmons, and pear trees as healthy as possible. You guys have the "hard" job of hunting.
Yes, I'm an anti-minimum wage guy. If someone has a job that pays $5 an hour, the free market will sort itself out (assuming the Government isn't giving out fortunes and early retirement money to able-bodied folks).

honest no BS review

I was a little skeptical about this outfitter due to some initial slow follow up answer to my questions, but once we began communicating he explained why and no issues from that point on.
James explained the hunt almost exactly in detail. right down to where to make the last turn up a driveway.
the hunt cabin was just as shown in the pictures and as he described. it is just that a cabin ( no power or water). The cabin was free from insects and spiders, I did not see any mouse dropping anywhere and I looked to try and find them.
I rode the property on my atv and the food plots and stand locations matched the map he provided exactly. The food plots were well maintained. The stands were in good shape and solid.
The feeders were full.
The deer were basically everywhere and within the first 3 days I quit counting at 40. Most were young or smaller bucks ( 6 pts or less). I saw one that may have met his 125" minimum size limit. This was the only deer I saw outside of 40 yards.
I did not see the amount of big deer I was hoping for. I am not saying they are not there, but just that I did not see them. I am sure the neighboring property owners appreciate nutrition he is providing to the deer herd.
If you are wanting a no frills DIY hunt this is a great place to go. If your wanting a 5 star lodge and massive bucks behind every tree look elsewhere.
I will be rebooking this year and after sending pictures to my buddies They will be booking also.

No Showers! In All fairness, they are in the sticks.

Wonderful hunting area. Everything was exactly as James explained it. From the stand locations, food plots looking great and corn be provided/baited in advance. Had heat and light despite me would prefer a shower; it's a give and take.
I can't say I "didn't like" anything. I would prefer a shower. There is a creek. I brought a cheap shower bag.

Mostly importantly I shot a nice buck. So of course I have good things to say. The property is done to perfection. The food plots offer variety and are obviously being hit by the deer. You have to love well fed deer that visit a known buffet. I think guide services are available but I didn't use them. I used the cabin and went hunting until I bagged my buck.

Great deer area. Seen deer every day. The area is secluded and wooded. Not a lot of open farm land which could be a concern for feeding and keeping a healthy deer here. Overall I do prefer hunting in the woods and smaller food plots. The cabin was a typical deer camp with everything you need. We will hunt there again.
