A hunters hunt!
8.7
Hard working dedicated guide(s)
A sober/non-alcoholic camp
Remote nonpressured territory
My guide and the others that I met all worked VERY HARD to get their client's on game; It was very evident that a successful hunt was THE objective.
Not a huge deal but
a little more thought on getting some good pictures
and
a clean tarp for meat transport

Paul and his guides are awesome. they know what they are going and are fun to hang with. We tagged out early and were able to enjoy a few days around camp. Amazing hunting experience and very kind folks.

Paul and Marilyn run a fantastic operation. Not only did we see a lot of game but the hospitality was fantastic as well. If you didn't even go hunt and just stayed back to eat Marilyn's homemade food, it would be worth it :)

I was really excited for a bucket-list moose hunt, but it ended up being a real letdown…
3.7
Kelton… a young guide working for the outfitter was excellent. A little immature and made a few mistakes from a guiding standpoint. However, he was extremely enthusiastic, worked really hard, and I do believe he cared a lot about his hunters success… I spent a week with him. He felt bad That I saw very few moose(4) and never saw a bull Or had a chance to shoot. I would, however, hunt with him again if he was with a different outfitter.
Paul… the outfitter and guide. First, we arrived at camp the day before the hunt starting on October 20.The hunt was sold as a moose/wolf combo. The Canadian government had shut down on September 2. Apparently, as a result, there were issues obtaining hunting licenses. He informed me at that time that he could not get a wolf tag for me because of this. He was very matter of fact and unapologetic. He also did not have my hunting partners fish and wildlife ID (FWID)number. The only reason he had mine was because I had hunted a mountain goat in British Columbia last year (which my outfitter took care of well in advance) . So he was able to issue me a moose tag, but wasn’t sure when he’d be able to issue my partners, moose tag and needed to work on that in the morning of the first day of the hunt. Ultimately he work it out, but these should’ve been things that should’ve been taken care of well in advance, and if there were issues with them because of the shutdown, he should have let us know well in advance of our arrival.
Personally, He tended to be a bit of a “know it all” and with respect toanything we talked about from religion to hunting, he portrayed himself as an expert. This became old through the course of the week.
He guided my friend for an entire week. My friend was extremely frustrated by the end of the week. His communication was terrible. He told my friend they were going to hunt in a meadow one evening and then he changed his mind and. He literally had him climb a 50 foot three with a rifle in hand that had no tree stand or ladder and proceeded to hunt out of this without really letting Him know what they were going to be doing. They did have a very poor opportunity that evening on a large bull that did not work out. However, if they had sat in the meadow where he had initially said they were going, it is very likely they would’ve had a successful hunt that evening.
My friend is an outfitter himself and excellent hunter and Paul accused him of making multiple mistakes because things were not working out the way that Paul wanted. Things were never Paul’s fault.
Paul asked him to take “free hand shot” at a moose while standing up In a moving boat without any rest At over 200 yards away. In our opinions., this was a very unsafe and unethical shot to take. Then, when my friend did not feel comfortable and declined, Paul was mad at him.
During the week, while riding in the boat, Paul would frequently jab my friend in the back with a paddle to get his attention and then, he would criticize for any actions such as making too much noise. In contrast, while they were walking out to hunt in the evening, he would use a chainsaw to cut down tree, branches, and right after he was done cutting them down admonish him to be quiet while they were Hiking on the trail to the spot that they were going to hunt.
Paul told me when I booked the hunt that this was his most successful hunt for the last five years. We had zero success. Two individuals that were finishing up their hunt in which a few days overlap with ours had been there the year before, and neither had taken a moose. One of the hunters finally was able to take a young moose this year. So they hunted for 14 days between last year and this year with only one moose to show, we had zero success.
The reality is that the area Likely has plenty of moose and the accommodations were reasonable. The hunt could actually have a lot of promise if it were not for the way Paul ran it and handled his guests/clients.
I truly hate having written all of this, my intent is not to disparage anyone, but the reality is I would be very cautious About booking this hunt And I feel obliged to help protect other hunters.
To his credit, as I was leaving, Paul offered to try and “ cut me a deal” on a future moose hunt since I had no shooting opportunities. But because of the overall experience, I am already looking for another moose hunt next year, but have no intention of utilizing Inzana.

Hi Joeseph. Thank you for your review and your positive feed back regarding your personal hunt with your hard working guide Kelton.
Regarding the tags, we were definutly put in a bad spot when the government went on strike. When your business partner is the government and they shut there doors, that is a big problem. Luckily the Guide Outfitters Association Of BC of which I am a proud member was able to get us some tags. I had them shipped up by special courrier so they were in camp when you arrived. GOABC got them activated which saved your hunt. There was a problem activating one of the tags but that was on the other end of things and not my mistake. I right away offered to add a extra day to your hunt to make up for it which you did not mention. Thank you GOABC for helping us through the strike !!
Your personal remarks about me are duly noted. I am a Christian Conservitive and will not apologize for that. I understand that a large majority of people are not in that camp. What you refer to as a "know it all" is a outfitter that has been guiding there for the last 27 years.
The rest of your review is about another hunter. You were not there and your account of the hunt is second hand so not very accurate. I was there and will give a quick summery. We saw 10 moose on the hunt 2 of which were bulls. while calling I also had 2 other bulls raking in the bush but could not coax them out. There were 2 shooting opportunities. The first was a big mature bull that came to the call while we were up a climbing tree. I asked the hunter if he wanted to climb a tree, he said yes. I climbed up first carrying the hunters gun for him and got him to a shooting position. He said he was "rock solid" The big mature bull that came to the call crossed a wide open meadow but the hunter did not shoot. When the moose got into the thick willows the hunter shot all his bullets at the moose. The moose kept coming and stood 50 yards away in a opening but the hunter had no bullets left. I can understand the hunters frustration as he made some very bad decisions about when to shoot. I should mention that the hunter had ear plugs in so I could not communicate with him and councel him when to shoot and not to shoot. I let him do his thing. The second shooting opportunity was out on a big lake. I spotted a bull a mile down the shore line and drove the boat to within shooting range. This was a tough situation because we were looking towards the low rising sun. The hunter had his scope turned up so high that it blacked out when he raised it to shoot.and then he proclaimed very loudly that his scope black out which scared the moose. In stead of simply dialing down the scope and taking the shot he made lots of noise and scared away the moose. Afterwords, I checked his scope, dialed it down and could see fine. Regarding shooting free hand out a boat. When you are in a big boat cruising in on a moose and you turn off the motor which is the law here in BC, the wave behind the boat catches up with the boat and pushes it to the right or left. The boat also starts to bob up and down so you can not rest on the boat. The best is to stand up and let you legs and hips absorb the motion and take a free hand shot. The kill zone on a moose is around 3 foot so it is not that difficult of a shot. I walked the hunter through the process before hand so If the hunter does not want to shoot out of a boat they should have told me that before hand and we could ave hunted differently.
Regarding the chainsaw. The hunter had very noisy cloths so getting in and out of 2 calling locations quietly was a problem. After we had called for a period of time and I had determined that there were no moose in the imediate vacinity I cleaned up the trail with a very quiet electric saw so that when we returned we could sneek in quietly. This obviously worked great because I called out a big mature bull there the next day.
The hunter brought a 340 weatherby with a muzzle break. Because of the muzzle break, I call them guide busters, the hunter wore ear plugs most of the time. This made communication in hunting situations very difficult. I had to lightly tap him with a paddle to get his attention on a few ocasions. The hunter never said he was offended by that . The solution here is to not to wear ear plugs until you are about to shoot. The hunter was apparently a expert hunter and part time guide outfitter so I let him do his thing. My assessment was that he made very bad shooting decisions and was not very proficient with his firearm and optics.
Regarding the 2 other hunters in camp. They came up last year and did not get a moose and this was his dream retirement hunt. They were wonderful people so I invited them back at cost. They were able to make it back this year and got a nice bull on there 3rd day of hunting. After the bull was down and the hunter was shaking with excitement, he gave me a huge man hug and said it was the best hunting experience of his life. Moments like that are why I am still guiding after so many years.
I enjoyed having your group in camp and wish you the very best

Amazing experience with Inzana Outfitters in BC
9.7
Paul and his guides are high energy, positive, and eager to put the effort in finding and harvesting the species being hunted. Paul has vast knowledge of BC and a extremely large hunt area with litte to no hunting pressure. Pauls area is true wilderness proven by the abuduntant game animals we saw. During our stay, my wife and I saw moose, grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, mule deer, elk, whitetal, and a variety or small game and waterfowl. I heard elk bugle, wolves howl, and moose grunting-it does not get any better than that.
I harvested a great Bull Moose and a large black bear boar during my stay and two other hunters in camp also took bull moose while I was hunting. Paul and his guides handeled the skinning and prepping hides and made arrangements for alocal butcher to process our meat.
Paul has remote outpost cabins surrounded by multiple lakes that provide a hunt where you see game tracks and your own-no one else.
I felt many of the game animals we saw likely had never seen a human before; this is big country, wild, and pure; if you are looking for adventure, its the real thing. I dont know where else you can see this beautiful of country and see this many different game species in one trip!
My only challange was dealing with customs with my gun. I have hunted in Canada several times before but always had my final destination at the airport of entry. This time because I was flying into Vancouver and then on to Prince George I had to re check everything in Vancouver and that caused me to miss my connecting flight. When I return, I will utilize Pauls collection of high caliber rifles which he rents; that would save a lot of time, hassle, and money.
