Python hunting in Cameroon {{ totalToursString }}
Ten species of Python, a large constricting snake have been identified in the Eastern Hemisphere.
The Python species found in Cameroon is a Central African Rock Python. The coloured blotched body makings vary from olive-brown, chestnut to yellow. The snake’s underside is white. Although non-venomous, these snakes have many sharp backwards-facing teeth and a bite from this snake can easily become infected.
Being a constricting snake, they squeeze their prey to death and are able to apply a pressure of 14 PSI which is significantly lower than an Anaconda at 90 PSI, but still enough to suffocate their prey which they swallow whole.
As mammal and bird populations are being depleted for bushmeat purposes, so more and more large snakes and Pythons are finding their way onto the bush market menus.
