I am a hunter and naturalist, we run Camel guided hunts at a large cattle station as well as offer taxidermy services.

About this hunt
A 4 day fully guided Hunt for ONE bull Camel $3500, all-inclusive Meat animals can be added. Pigs and wild dogs may be taken for FREE if accounted on the hunt. Will only hunt a limited number of hunts in September with 9 spots available as this time the day temps will push to 30 degrees and cooler nights making it quite comfortable. Also, it is the rut for the bulls at this time. Caliber: I personally would recommend 308 upwards for a well-placed shot and distances up to 300 meters will be common in open country and a lot closer in the channel country which would suit bow hunters. Hunting method - animals are found by vehicles, as the area is so vast and being so nomadic, camels can cover a lot of ground and once found, we find a spot and stalk method is required. We mainly only target old mature bulls than can reach to the age of 60 years old. Now recognised as a Game Trophy largely due to their impressive alien looking skulls with impressive canines only found in mature bulls. Cleaning, shipping of skulls and capes can be arranged and even the Taxidermy work if required.

Territory
The area hunted is a large Cattle Station, covering a lot of channels in open country on the Diamantina River system (mainly only runs when flooding). The area is also very close to the Combo Water Hole, that’s where Banjo Patterson wrote Waltzing Matilda. Other interests are the Walkabout Hotel, used in the film Crocodile Dundee and also Winton is renowned for it was once where many Dinosaurs roamed, and many Geographic sites display this. Camels were introduced to this area to help control bathe obnoxious weed prickly acacia. With introduction their numbers have increased dramatically, and feral populations exist throughout the region.

Flights from Townsville to Winton are only on Tuesday and Thursdays. Or from Brisbane to Longreach, then a chartered plane can be landed at the Station.
