Where to hunt Egyptian Mongoose
A diurnal, carnivorous animal that will eat rats, mice, frogs, toads, crabs, small mammals, birds, lizards, snakes and really enjoy bird eggs. They are found in well-watered grasslands, savannas and shrubland across north Africa (along the Mediterranean coastline) and south of the Sahara Desert, except the rainforests of the Congo Basin and south western Southern Africa. Price distribution
In Cameroon you have a choice of a 7 – 14 day safari. When to hunt Egyptian Mongoose?
In Cameroon, these animals are hunted in what is classified as the Savanna hunting season which opens on January 1 and closes on April 30. Egyptian Mongoose are mostly likely to be encountered during the day. Your best chances of hunting a Mongoose is at dawn or at dusk when they are actively hunting and feeding. The driest time of the year is best suited to hunting these critters.
Hunting methods
Firstly, find some suitable habitat which is often near a stream or in a drainage line. Then you will need to start a slow walk and stalk carefully scanning the edges of riverine vegetation for any movement. You can also try calling them by making a high pitched squeaking noise, although you still most likely need to ride your luck and hope to bump into a specimen. Being a trophy of opportunity it is unlikely that this animal will be high on anybodies's wish list.

Egyptian Mongoose, also known as Ichneumon, are one of the larger species of mongoose in Africa. Man’s fascination with a Mongoose is created by their reputation of being snake killing machines. Having lightning- fast reflexes makes them a formidable opponent for a snake, even though they are not immune to a poisonous snake bite. No wonder one of these full mounted specimens would make for a good hunting story and conversation piece in anyone’s trophy collection.
