FREESTATE PIGEON & DOVE HUNT You will be entertained by hot-barrelled pigeon and dove shooting over sunflower fields, testing the abilities of the most respected guns. Rock pigeons have been referred to as the “most challenging gamebird in the world” by many international sportsmen. Here the seasoned wing shooter's shooting talents will be tested to the ultimate, while novice shooters will have ample opportunities to hone their shotgun skills and improve their shooting ability. Millions of pigeons and doves commute, twice daily, between the city and the ripening sunflower fields in the surrounding district. It is here where sportsmen ambush from blinds, these humbling game birds under their flight paths first the incoming flight to the fields and thereafter the outgoing flight from the fields back to their roosts. Pigeon shooting is hot barrel action, and guns can fire in excess of a thousand rounds of ammunition on a good day! Pigeons may be shot throughout the year, but the best time is from March to the beginning of June. Days can be spiced up with some opportunistic pursuing of Guineafowl, Francolin and Orange River Partridge during the open season (May through Aug). No hidden costs, Booking well in advance is essential, Ethical & Sustainable practices are adhered to. Double guns only on Upland, Sandgrouse, Greywing & Driven hunts! Additional hunting days can be added to any package as per the price list. Enquire about our other Exclusive Wild Bird Hunts HUNTERS: Minimum 4 guns. Preferably 5 - 6 guns. EXAMPLE ITINERARY Day 1: Arrive at the specified airport, travel to our main hunting area. Day 2: AM & PM shoot Day 3: AM & PM shoot Day 4: AM & PM shoot Day 5: AM & PM shoot Day 6: AM depart for the airport. We reserve the right to change any terms, conditions and prices without notice. Rates at the time of the hunt will apply.
