About this hunt

The black bears of Newfoundland and Labrador tend to be bigger due to a genetic predisposition and low hunting pressures. Here, you’ll find approximately 10,000 of North America's black bears, some topping a whopping 650 pounds. There are two black bear seasons - one in the spring and one in the fall with rifle or bow. Baited bear/fishing combo 6 nights, and 5 days Hunting/fishing days 2/1 guide ratio Guests will arrive at our lodge a day before hunting, and leave the day after their hunt is finished..No hunting on travel days. Your gear should include a good sleeping bag suitable for cold climate as temperatures may vary that time of year and a good pair of rubber boots about 15" high. A good suit of waterproof clothing, a pair of binoculars and a camera are also good things to bring

Where you will hunt

Territory

The Island of Newfoundland is without doubt the place to hunt in North America right now. Consider two facts: Newfoundland boasts a current moose population of approximately 120,000 and hunter success rates across the province exceed over 80 percent. Moose experts agree that Newfoundland has the most dense moose population in North America. These large well-managed populations provide a excellent venture for the big game hunter.

Great guide but outfitter was mediocre at best.

Food was good. The cabin was decent but was small for 6 men and guides and cook. My guide was the highlight of trip and I will hunt with him again somewhere.

The 7 mile 4 wheeler ride was terrible getting to lodge. The outfitter didn't like when I gave my meat to my guide who was awesome. Did not see very good moose and no bear permits were available from guide. I didn't pay much for hunt so some of this is not a shock but it sucks after hunting all day and you are beat then a 7-10 mile 4 wheeler ride to lodge on terrible trails. Just my opinion

Poor quality

Sorry you feel that way mark. But it was a last minute booking on your part. I explained to you that it was a new lodge and the road wasn't due to be put in until 2019. I also explained that it was a remote lodge and only accessible by ATV. You took your bull on the second morning and seen 2 bigger bulls and a bear on the first day. We didnt have any bear tags left. The other 5 clients that were in that week are returning in 2019.

Better than expected

Family owned outfitter who knows their stuff and the terrain. We ate so much better than expected as well and had great conversations. You take ATV’s everywhere and on some rugged terrain but this added to the fun and authenticity of being out in nature, hunting, and getting the authentic experience. It’s a nice little cabin miles from other people on a lake and stream with electricity, hot showers, and a great view. What else do you need?

This is what a guided moose hunt should be.

The staff was very professional from the owner, the guides, and the cook. They took the time to personalize the hunt and catered to my needs. They treat you like family.

Great Hunt, Great People

The area was remote and the cabin and food were fantastic. Guides were very knowledgeable and worked hard to provide you a great hunt. Good times all week long from beginning to end.
