About this hunt
The low hunting pressure in the Sugarloaf exclusive guide use area gives hunters a great chance at harvesting potential record book brown bears that travel into and out of the Katmai Park, where hunting is prohibited. With the large concentrations of brown bears moving throughout the preserve, helps harbor some of the largest brown bears in the state. With a limited amount of permits and pressure, we focus on mature boars in the 9 foot class, with bears averaging over 9’10 for the last 5 years. With ten foot bears around, patience is the name of the game. We offer one 11 day hunt option, the 11 day hunt consists of 9 full days of hunting and the extra two days are used for travel in and out of the field. Wolf harvest in the fall is at no extra charge, as long as the hunting season is open. Option 2: Oct 3 – Oct 14: Hunters will need to fly into Anchorage on October 10th and into King Salmon on October 11th. Transportation into the field will occur on October 12th to start hunting on October 13th. Transportation out of the field with be on October 22nd. Lodging in the field: One 10 x 10 sleep tent and a 10 x 10 or 8 x 8 cook tent will be used. Tents will be of the highest quality and include Alaska Tent and Tarp Arctic Ovens, Bombshelter tents, Cabela’s Outfitter tents or a combination. Meals will consist mostly of fresh cooked meals and then freeze dried meals towards hunts end. Modifications can be made upon request.

Where you will hunt
Territory
Holding the sole guide use permit with the National Park Service, in the Sugarloaf area of the Katmai Preserve, makes us the only outfitter allowed to conduct guided hunts in this area. Encompassing close to 220 square miles of the richest salmon spawning areas in the state, our area holds one of the world’s largest population of brown bears. With a limited amount of tags and a long term permit with the National Park Service, we have an invested interest in preserving this area to harbor the best hunting Alaska can offer. These limited tags and exclusive guiding rights allows us to manage our area to the highest degree and increases the opportunity of potentially harvesting a record book brown bear and Alaskan-Yukon moose.

Best hunt ever
From the first time we talked to until we left everything was perfect!
There was nothing I didn’t like.

Big Brown Bears And an amazing hunt
Eight days of true adventure. Saw between 45-50 different bears and at least 5 huge boars. I harvested mine at 80 yards. It squared a true 9’6 with a record book skull of 28 3/16. What an incredible hunt!
The hunt had to end

Hunting Dall Sheep

Honestly everything was good. Hunting is hunting, as long as the Outfitter is working hard in my/our best interests i'm good.

Cabot is tops.
I liked how prepared Cabot was, in addition to how well he knew the area.
The fact that I only had one tag.
